Cookies & local storage

Short version: this site does not set any tracking cookies, does not run analytics, and does not embed third-party widgets that would. The only data the site keeps on your device is one local-storage flag so the cookie notice does not pop up on every page load.

1. What we store on your device

The complete list, as of today:

1.1 localStorage entry — baryon-cookie-notice-v2

• Purpose: remembers that you have dismissed the notice banner so it does not reappear.
• Set by: this site (scripts/cookie-banner.js) when you click “Got it”.
• Content: the literal string 1.
• Personal data? No.
• Duration: until you clear browser site data.
• Legal basis: § 25(2) TTDSG / ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3) — storage “strictly necessary” for a service requested by the user (the user clicked dismiss).

1.2 localStorage entry — baryon-auth-v1 (only if you sign in)

• Purpose: keeps you signed in across page reloads so the web app does not ask you for your password on every navigation.
• Set by: this site (scripts/auth.js) after a successful POST /api/login or /api/signup.
• Content: a JSON object with your JWT session token and the public fields of your user record (email, id, created at).
• Personal data? Yes — your email.
• Duration: until you sign out, the token expires, or you clear browser site data.
• Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (necessary to perform the service you requested by signing in) and § 25(2) TTDSG (strictly necessary).

We do not currently set any HTTP cookies at all.

2. Third-party requests the page can make

The 3D hero on the home page loads the Three.js rendering library from unpkg.com, a public CDN operated by Cloudflare. That request can result in technical cookies set by Cloudflare under their own policy — we have no control over those. They are not used to identify you on Baryon Systems. Cloudflare details its handling in its cookie policy.

If you do not want any third-party request at all, block unpkg.com at the browser level — everything else on the site continues to work.

3. No tracking, no advertising

We do not use:

• Google Analytics or any equivalent analytics product
• Advertising or remarketing pixels
• Fingerprinting libraries
• Social-media share-widget scripts
• A/B testing services
• Session-replay tools

If that ever changes we will update this page and re-show the notice banner so you see the change before any new storage takes effect.

4. How to clear what little we store

Use your browser’s privacy controls. Quick references:

• Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data and permissions → search for baryon → Delete.
• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → search for baryon → Remove Selected.
• Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search for baryon → Remove.
